Consider Putting Them on Leash
Dogs are still animals. You can’t predict their exact reaction on dealing with things. Most of them are dependent but they also have their own way of dealing with things. To make the introduction of your current dog to a new dog more safe and effective, you have to consider putting them both in a leash. This way, you can prevent fights in case both of them become aggressive.
Give Some Treats for Good Behavior
Dog introduction is quite hard for both pet. So if you can observe that they are both behaving positively and started to get along, never hesitate to give them a treat. This will make them understand that you are proud of their behavior. In the long run, you can make them more comfortable with each other by giving them the chance to do things together like dog grooming like dog wash and the likes.
Be In Charge
Dogs don’t get along with each other overnight. Thus, as owner, it is important that you set rules on how to handle them in case of fights. You have to stop them at once. It would help if you divert their attention into other things. Take them for a walk in the dog park if possible. Observe if they are now calm and starting to be comfortable with each other again. Fights do happen every now and then between dogs so better be firm with your rules to lessen such occurrences.
